Access to open technology shouldn’t require technical privilege

January 23, 2026

Open-source software means open-access for everyone to read, modify, and distribute.

This assumes you can self-host the software, which often needs a technical baseline.

Self-hosting, CLI workflows, and tech docs can make “open access” feel like a myth for non-tech users.

At Formbricks, we tried to tackle this with a one-click script to self-host Formbricks. Coolify also tries to simplify the process of self-hosting.

But this problem remains unsolved. It stops all the non-tech users from accessing open-source software.

How do you make open-source truly accessible to everyone? Curious to hear what others are trying.
